Injection Grout

The brick encased steel columns in the water treatment facility in Cleveland were rusting and needed to be cathodically protected to stop the deterioration. Cathodic protection in masonry encased structures relies on a low voltage electric current running from electrodes placed in the masonry to flow into the steel column, reversing the natural current flow generated by corrosion and thereby stopping it. Unfortunately, the brick was not always in direct contact with the steel, preventing the current from flowing.

In order to correct this problem, VoidSpan PHLc70 grout was injected into the brick column encasements to fill the gaps and complete the current flow.
