The quartzite stone facing of the 160-foot tall University Center tower at Lehigh University was debonding from the random rubble back-up construction, leaving a sand-filled cavity of between 2” and 4” width between them. More than 1,000 VoidSpan Port Anchors were installed along with approximately 40,000 lbs of VoidSpan PHLc70 injected grout to compositely bond the tower faces back together.
The iconic tower built by Asa Packer in 1868 can now continue to serve as the focal point and cultural center of the fine institution for generations to come.
