Gravity Feed Grout
VS Anchors

The entrances to Gordon Hall, the focal point of HMS’s quadrangle, passed below colonnades of 45-foot tall marble ionic columns with 6,000 lb marble volute capitals looming above. Several of the capitals had failed, requiring the volutes to be cut back and replaced with bonded stone dutchmen that would cantilever outward from remaining parent material.

These 6,000 lb. behemoths were blind-pinned to the substrate with Cintec Tee-anchors and bonded with VoidSpan PHLc grout that was gravity-fed into the gaps between them. After more than 10 years, the volutes remain suspended exactly the way they were when the shoring was removed.
